Hyakushoya Ltd. is a generational farming business located in the expansive agricultural landscape of the Nijo area in Itoshima City.
With the motto “We provide our customers with what we want our own children to eat,” they cultivate rice, wheat, and soybeans over an area of more than 80 hectares, trying to minimize the use of pesticides as much as possible. Haruhisa Matsuzaki, who took over the management in his thirties, is particularly passionate about using bamboo chips compost, which is made from local bamboo and livestock waste. Products grown with their proprietary compost, the result of extensive research, can be purchased not only in direct sales stores in Itoshima City but also in Hyakushoya’s barn (please inquire in advance).
