Sakurai Futamigaura, a scenic Itoshima City landmark, features ‘male’ (11.8m) and ‘female’ (11.2m) rocks, 150m offshore, made of granite and diorite. A 30m, 1-ton shimenawa rope connects them. Annually, during late April or early May’s spring tides, locals in happi coats traditionally replace this rope. Surrounded by numerous restaurants and cafes, Futamigaura is a year-round popular tourist spot.
