Hachibei, one of Fukuoka’s best-known group of yakitori restaurants with locations in Tokyo’s Roppongi Hills and Honolulu, actually began in Maebaru, Itoshima. While decidedly more casual than their urban locations, the Maebaru branch is still a place to enjoy a wide variety of charcoal-grilled skewers. On June 1st, 2021, they opened a take-out-only fried chicken specialty shop right next door.
Choose between soy or salt flavors for tender and juicy deep-fried breast, or get fancy and order the crispy variety! They have wings too and two types of bento (boxed lunch) with a choice of white rice or chicken rice. We tried it all and still can’t decide which to have next!
