This is the only yabusame (horseback archery) ritual held in Itoshima. Dedicated annually since 1653, the ceremony prays for a bountiful harvest and the safety of farm horses. Two mounted archers gallop along a 150-meter approach, shooting three targets with white-feathered arrows—a thrilling sight. Following the yabusame ritual, a chigo gyoretsu (children’s procession) takes place.
