Held every year on the last Sunday of April in Itoshima, a region known for its green onions, this festival celebrates all things negi. Visitors can take part in a green onion harvesting experience (¥500), where they aim to pick exactly 1kg for a chance to win prizes based on accuracy. Freshly harvested negi is used in dishes such as tempura made from the onion flower buds and the local specialty “somen chiri.” A muddy “treasure hunt in the rice field” game (¥500, available as a set with the harvest experience) adds to the fun. Itoshima products like Ito Monogatari yogurt and Yamasue’s spicy cod roe are also sold at special prices.
