There is a Yamakasa festival in Itoshima too! The Maebaru Yamakasa (Hifuse Jizo and Oimatsu Shrine Summer Festival) features floats from nine districts parading energetically through the town with water splashed on them, accompanied by shouts of “Oisa, Oisa.” Traditionally, the floats are dedicated to Hifuse Jizo on July 24 and Oimatsu Shrine on July 25. However, in 2024, the event will only take place on July 25, starting from 2:30 PM with each float departing every six minutes from in front of the Itoshima Police Station. From 6 PM on both days, Iris Road and the main street near the Meitengai shopping area become pedestrian zones, hosting three beer gardens and numerous street stalls, drawing large crowds.
