Ian Hall, now a photographer based in Itoshima, was previously a competitive sailor until his retirement at the age of 26. In the following year, he found his passion for photography in New York, launching his career while also working within the fashion industry.
Hall’s exhibition, titled “Sanctuary,” is influenced by Michael Kenna, a photographer whom he greatly admires. After spending significant time abroad, Hall’s return to Japan heightened his appreciation of his hometown’s beauty and significance. Through his photography, he seeks to express the concept of Musin, which embodies the absence of harmful thoughts, Zen philosophy, and his own perspective on life.
